Beginning in 1980, Summers documented The Police, behind the scenes in a series of candid and striking black and white photos. Possessing a visual gift for composition and mood allowed him to capture the spirit of The Police more intimately than anyone else.
Summers, one of the most prolific guitarists of all time, is now in the midst of The Police sold-out tour celebrating their 30th reunion. Andy Summers heralds his return with a biathlon of photographic output: an exclusive photographic exhibition in five cities produced on the HP Designjet Z3100 Photo Printer series, and a book published by Taschen. The gallery shows, presented in conjunction with Rockarchive.com began in June at the Laurie Frank Gallery in the famed Los Angeles art complex Bergamot Station, and will be followed by similar exhibitions in July at Newbury Fine Art in Boston and Gjethuset in Denmark.
